Driver strikes trees while fleeing armed robber, police say

A 20-year-old Madison woman drove her car into two trees and hopped a curb while fleeing an armed man who demanded marijuana, according to a release from Madison police.
Police said the woman and two friends were in her car listening to music around midnight Thursday morning at a gas station at 3019 E. Washington Ave. when a man approached the car and pointed a gun at them, demanding marijuana.
The driver was frightened and hit the gas, driving wildly out of the parking lot, striking two trees and hopping a curb, according to police.
The man was described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, with short hair, a light complexion and beard.
