Dr. Steven P. Disch

New Glarus, WI/Alpharetta, GA/Dr. Steven P. Disch, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the home of his parents in New Glarus, WI. He was born June 16, 1954 at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, WI to his parents Rolland and Shirley (Meland) Disch. Steve graduated from New Glarus High School in 1972 where he had been a multi-sport athlete. He continued his education at Auburn University where he competed in Track and Field and graduated in 1976. Steve graduated from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine in 1981; he served his internship at the Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL with his residency at the Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Hospital at St. Louis, MO from 1982 to 1986 in Neurological Surgery. Steve spent most of his professional yeas in private practice with Spectrum Neurosurgical Specialists, and was affiliated with North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA. On April 25, 1981 Steve was united in marriage to Colleen O’Connor at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glaus, WI where he had also been baptized and confirmed. He was an ardent Auburn University football fan and supporter. Steve was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, doctor, and friend.
Steve is survived by his wife Colleen of Alpharetta, daughters Ashton of Atlanta, GA and Taylour of Auburn, AL, parents Rolland and Shirley Disch of New Glarus, WI, and sisters Penelope (Kris) Kubly of New Glarus and Elizabeth Disch of New Glarus, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jacob and Bertha Disch and Laurence and Anna Meland.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Steve’s memory.
