DOT: Merrimac Ferry carried more than 302K cars across Wisconsin River this year

The Merrimac Ferry crossed the Wisconsin River more than 54,000 times and carried more than 302,000 vehicles in 2015, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Southwest Region.
The ferry ran for 277 days, from March 27 through Dec. 30, officials said. The ferry crossed the river 54,411 times and carried 302,915 vehicles.
When the ferry is open, it serves as Highway 113 across the Wisconsin River and runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week between Okee in Columbia County and Merrimac in Sauk County, according to a release.
