Dorothy Tollefson Ramminger
DEFOREST/MORRISONVILLE-Dorothy (Tollefson) Ramminger, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 after a long and full life at Good Samaritan Society Lodi.
She was born on May 25, 1916 in Charlestown Township, daughter of Oscar and Lucy (Sachs) Tollefson.
Dorothy married Othmar Ramminger in Waukegan, Illinois in 1936. She worked for the USAFI (United States Airforce Institute), the US Weather Bureau and the ICC (Interstate Commerce Commission) for 26 years. Dorothy and Othmar lived on a farm in Morrisonville for 35 years. They spent 14 or more years in Ocala, Florida, where Othmar passed away in 1997. In 1998 Dorothy returned to DeForest to be near her family. She loved to travel. Othmar and Dorothy toured in Europe and took several cruises.
Dorothy enjoyed growing flowers and reading. She loved being with people and volunteered at the DeForest Senior Center making teddy bears and various projects for the RSVP. Dorothy was a member of the Zion Dorcas Society, Arlington Garden Club, WELS, Friends of DeForest Library and DeForest Red Hatters.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Richard (Carolyn) Ramminger, Morrisonville and Roger Ramminger, Alexandria, Alabama; her daughter, Susan Urben, Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Nola (Roger) Stanley, Daniel (Patty) Smith, Rev. Timothy (Kathy) Smith, Brian Ramminger, Bradley Ramminger, Wayne Urben and Perry Urben; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Othmar; daughter, Karen; two sisters, Jeanette Schomisch and Grace Mann and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, W6906 County Rd. K, Arlington at 11:00am, on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until the time of service.
