Dorothy Marie Leffler, age 85, of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Uplands Hills Health following a brief illness. Dorothy was born on February 6, 1927 the daughter of Thomas and Martha (Wirth) Johnson of Arena. After graduation from Arena High School, Dorothy attended Madison Business College. She married Laverne Leffler of Dodgeville on October 11, 1947. They had 3 daughters, Linda, Lois, and Susan and an infant son who died when 3 days old. Dorothy worked as the church secretary at the Dodgeville Methodist Church for 35+ years where she was a member for the past 65 years.

Dorothy and her husband Laverne celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on October 11, 2011. They especially loved to dance. You would see them every Friday night at the New Glarus Hotel dancing a polka, waltz or fox trot. They loved to travel and went on many cruises and traveled worldwide to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, China, Russia, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and toured many places within the United States.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Linda (Terry) Hanson of Mission, Texas, and Lois (Jim) McComish of Dodgeville; son-in-law Tom Richardson; six grandchildren, Todd Anderson, Allen Zweifel, Angie (Jason) Schulting, Steve (Kelly) Gottschall, Lori (Mark) Rotzenberg, Tim (Melanie) Gottschall; four step grandchildren, Nancy (John) Harpold, Sandy (James) Gardner, Tammy Richardson and Erin (Josh) Polkinghorn; nine great grandchildren, Kelsey Rule, Kenzie Oakes, Avery & Ramsey Schulting; Garrett Gottschall; Ellis, Ames & Davis Rotzenberg; and Brayden Gottschall who will soon be a big brother in April; seven step great grandchildren, Jessica, Devin, Anthony, Michael, Ethan, Alexis and Layla; a brother, Russel (Sally) Johnson of Arena, a sister-in-law, Margaret Leffler of Dodgeville, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne, on January 31, 2012, her parents, her daughter, Susan (Leffler) Richardson, on December 2, 2006 and an infant son Thomas Henry Leffler, a brother, Harold Johnson, 3 sisters-in-law, Doris Johnson, Wilma (Fritsch) Durni & Norma (Peterson) Garthwaite; 3 brothers-in-law, Lavern (Shorty) Fritsch, Ira (Pete) Peterson, and Raymond Leffler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church. Pastor David Busker will officiate with burial in the East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.. Memorials may be made to Upland Hills Health or the Dodgeville United Methodist Church.
