Dorothy “Jean” Oughton

SUN PRAIRIE-Dorothy “Jean” Oughton, age 90, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Oakwood Village East Prairie Ridge.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Hazel May (White) Wright.
She married William Oughton on Jan. 15, 1943 in Wilmette, Ill. They resided in Kankakee, Ill. and Memphis, Tenn. before moving to the Madison area in 1960. Jean was a devoted wife and mother to her two children. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Jean led a very strong Christian life; she not only lived it, but shared it with others. She was an active member of Waunakee Baptist Church. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Jane Ellen; son, James Edward (Sandy); two grandchildren, Aaron (Kelly) and Alyssa (Brett) Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Reagan and Miles Oughton; sister, Dolores “Dot” Wright; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2004; and brother, George in 2005. Funeral services will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST PRAIRIE RIDGE, TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, with the Rev. Jerry Marsden presiding.
Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens in Sun Prair
Visitation will be held at the chapel from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
