Doris A. Draves
OREGON-Doris A. Draves, age 69, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, after a brave fight with cancer. She was born on Feb. 2, 1948, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Erwin and Dorothy (Hoppa) Wagner. She married Thomas Draves on Nov. 27, 1971, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Baraboo. Doris was a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She was a strong and courageous woman who never gave up, and was an inspiration to all. Doris always put others first, was dedicated and giving to many people. She will forever live on in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts because of her devoted leadership and years of volunteering. Her favorite time of year was when she was able to go camping and join her friends to be a part of Women’s Week. She was also an active participant in many service projects with AT&T Pioneers and a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church. Doris is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom; son, Tony (Alison Mahan) Draves; two daughters, Tina (Ben) Niesen and Kelly (David Daniels) Draves; a sister, Jean (Bob) Foss; three brothers, Bob (Carla) Wagner, Russ (Katy) Wagner, and Bill (Gina Nichols) Wagner; eight treasured grandchildren, Aurora, Orion, Noah, Olivia, Brianna, Taylor, Aviana, and Devin; and many other relatives and friends. Though it breaks our hearts that she departed from this world, she is now at peace, reuniting with those who have gone before her including her parents, and brother, Tom Wagner. A Memorial Service will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 North Main Street, Oregon, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, with Father Gary Wankerl presiding. Burial will be held St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Oregon, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Doris’ name to help find a cure for cancer. The family would like to sincerely thank UW Rehabilitation Hospital, her oncologist Dr. Lubner and the compassionate staff at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. Doris has gone to heaven and is watching over her grandchildren who will continue to make her proud. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
