Doretta Hansen

Doretta Hansen, 94, of Richland Center died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born February 4, 1919 the daughter of Eldon and Florence (Meade) Toney. On March 22, 1941 Doretta married Halbert ‘Wack’ Hansen in Waukon, Iowa. Doretta was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She liked to sew and bowl.

Doretta is survived by two children: Ken (Juan) Hansen of Richland Center, Kenda (Gary) Deaver of Richland Center, four grandchildren: Dawn (Paul) Statz, Traci (Dane) Peterson, Chad (friend Dawn) Hansen, Kay Deaver, six great-grandchildren: A.J., Alyson and Alexandra Statz, Dana, Brooke, and Ryan Peterson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wack, brothers and sisters: Buford Toney, Marjorie Forester, Emogene Draheim, Glennis Toney, Joyce Shaw, Beba Frye, Eldon Toney, Jr., Lavonne ‘Shonnie’ DesRocher, and Allen ‘Todd’ Toney.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Ken Schaub officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 7:30 PM where an American Legion Auxiliary Service will be held at 7:30 PM.

Friends may also call at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. The family suggest memorials in Doretta’s name be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the family.
