Donna Marie Somerville

HAYWARD-Donna Marie Somerville, 81, of Hayward, died Sunday January 20, 2013 at Waters Edge Care Center in Hayward. Donna was born in Sparta, the daughter of Dorothea and Lyle Heath. In her early years of marriage to Basil LeBansky they resided in the state of Oregon returning to Tomah near family and friends. Those years brought much involvement in her children’s schooling and 4H activities.

In the mid 60’s Donna moved to Hayward with her four children. She married Don Somerville of Hayward. They had two children together. Her working years included LaBansky’s Used Car Corral; Fort McCoy; the Superintendent’s office of the Hayward Community school system; the Somerville Paint Store; Bob Worman’s cable TV service; Historyland and the Private Industry Council. The last 12 years before she retired she worked for Governor Tommy Thompson’s Northern office. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hayward; the Republican Party and The Hayward Area Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Donna was devoted to her family always looking forward to their visits. She loved art, photography and gardening. Donna also enjoyed spending time with close knit friends in the neighborhood while raising her two youngest daughters. She was a kind, giving person; constantly thankful for all the Lord had blessed her with.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Sandee (Bob) Harris of Middleton, Pam (Bob) McClelland of Hayward, Jody Thedens of Sauk City; Shannon Sweanngen of Hayward; Tara (Ron) Schoepp of Lodi; daughter-in-law, Carol LaBansky of Fredricksburg, VA.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Maxine (George) Baker of Sparta and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her son; Allan LaBansky; her sisters Marlene and Lylia; a half-brother, Williard Heath and her parents. Services were held at Northern Light Church, Middleton on January 23, 2013 with Pastor James Shipley presiding. Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery, Middleton.
