Donna Mae Margaret (Rieder) Schultz
Donna Mae Schultz

Donna Mae Margaret (Rieder) Schultz, 73, entered into eternal peace on August 7, 2017 at her home in Madison with family by her side. In March, 2017, Donna Mae was diagnosed with lung cancer that eventually spread to her brain. She also suffered rheumatoid arthritis, an illness that left her in pain for many years. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through her pain and treatments. Though it was cancer that finally took Donna Mae’s life, it could not seize her hope, shatter her faith, cripple her love, smother her spirit or keep her from eternal life. Donna Mae was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on November 15, 1943, a daughter of Donald and Bertha (Ring) Rieder. Over the years, many family get-togethers were celebrated at her beloved parents’ home in Plain, Wisconsin. Donna Mae earned a living for nearly 25 years at Rural Mutual Insurance Company, and later by running a house cleaning business named Cozy Cottage Cleaners. Donna Mae always liked things to be clean as a pin and in ship-shape order. Whatever her vocation, she never let it stand in the way of her first priority which was to raise her two beautiful daughters. On September 30, 1989, she married her dearly loved husband, Lee Schultz, and for 28 years, she cherished every moment with this man. Throughout their marriage, Lee was selfless in his devotion, and cared for Donna Mae’s every need. Donna Mae loved holidays, parties and family get-togethers. Any chance to spend time with her family, especially the three grandchildren, was important to her. She loved to spend hours cooking, baking, mending and tending to her flowers. She was a devoted Christian woman whose unshakable faith sustained her through any struggles she faced in life. Left to cherish her loving memories are her devoted husband Lee who never left her side during her health battles, her daughters Rhonda Adams (Jim Lenzer) and Heidi Walsh, her grandchildren Aaron Adams, Elijah Adams and Camille Walsh, her siblings, Harvey, Stanley, Dennis (Carol), Mary Schutz (Peter), Thomas (Teresa), Philomena Rieder-Endres (Paul), Arline Hess (Joe), sister-in-law Ruthie Rieder, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, two aunts and an uncle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gilbert, aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends and relatives will be welcomed for visitation at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from so many people, including the care and comfort given to Donna in her final weeks by the staff from Agrace HospiceCare. Donna Mae will always live in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much. Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
