Donald O. Bartnick

Donald “Don” Orval Bartnick, age 70, passed away August 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by family after courageously battling for two years against cancer. He was born in Baraboo, WI, on November 17, 1946. Don was a US Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Judith Henn on April 8, 1967, at St. Barnabas, Mazomanie. Don farmed full time most of his life. He was a truck driver for several companies over the years, but most recently, Hartmann Farms.

Don was also a retired rural postal carrier. His interests included farming, spending time with family, traveling (by way of casinos), wintering in Florida, bowling and playing cards.

Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith (Henn) Bartnick; his children: Kathy Bockhop, Dave Bartnick, Suzanne (Enrique) Ramirez, Patti (Ray) Keichinger, and Greg (Erin) Bartnick; his 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Diane Bartnick (sister-in-law), Dale Bartnick, Darlene Bartnick Hasheider, Dwight Bartnick, Diane (Mike) Raizin, Deb Bartnick (Dave Sprecher); brother-in-laws: Ric (Rita) Henn and Ted (Robin) Henn; sister-in-laws: Marlene (Jim) Bickford, Donna (Bob) Parrell, Teri Henn (Brian Ballweg), and Kari Knutson; and numerous family and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Catherine (Blum) Bartnick; his in-laws Clarence and Cyrilla (Breunig) Henn; his brother Duane Barnick; his sister-in-law Diana Lucchesi; and his son-in-law Dan Bockhop.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 4-7pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI. Funeral will be Thursday, August 31, 2017, 11 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Poynette, WI, with a 1 hour visitation preceding the service. Full honor guard burial service at 2:30 pm at Garden Bluff Cemetery on County Road J in the Town of West Point. Fellowship gathering will follow burial at the VFW Post 7694 in Prairie du Sac, WI.
