Donald Joseph Bauer

Donald Joseph Bauer, age 74, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
He was born Dec 11, 1937 to the late Joseph and Flora (Toutant) Bauer. Don graduated from St. Catherine’s in Racine in 1955 and later earned his degree in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University. He married his High School sweetheart, Kathleen Larsen May 2, 1959.
He was a Senior Plastic Engineer at S.C. Johnson in Racine for 29 years, retiring in 1989. Upon retirement, Don and Kathie owned and operated the Receptive Learning Center for Wellness in Sauk Prairie for 10 years. Don was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, former cantor and choir member, member of the Knights of Columbus, and the former Director of the Sauk County Tobacco Free Coalition for over 10 years. He enjoyed golfing, boating and cherished his time spent with his family and treasured his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathie. Children; Tom (Sally), Houghton, MI. Tim (Nancy), Grand Junction , CO. Ted (Rhonda), Prairie du Sac. Aimee (Jeff), Alpharetta, GA. 9 Grandchildren; Christopher, Willow, Heather (Isaiah), Aurora, Jaymie, Roy, Tommy, Ryan, and Kaylee Jo. 3 great grandchildren; Anthony, Jude and Mathew. He is further survived by other relatives and friends, including a best friend Tom Troestler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina Marie and a son Todd.
A Christian Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:30am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, where a Rosary will be prayed at 12:45pm. As per Don’s wishes, a Jazz led funeral procession to the church will leave the funeral home at 11:00am on the day of service.
