Donald John Welch

Waunakee -Donald J. Welch, age 88, entered into eternal life on January 26, 2013. He was born in Madison. As a senior in high school he went into the US Army during WWII for 3 years. He started dating the love of his life, Ruth, shortly before he went into the service. Then they reunited upon his discharge. They met while he was playing baseball, when she was 12. He married Ruth on December 28, 1946 and they never left each other’s side. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Michael (Patti) Welch; daughter, Susan (Rick) Stearns; grandchildren: Angela, Jennifer and Justin; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ruth Welch.
