Dominic J. Furlano

Dominic Joseph Furlano, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born in LaCrosse, WI on Nov. 4, 1931, the son of Dominic and Celia (Martino) Furlano of Genoa, WI. He moved to Janesville in 1957, to work for General Motors. He married the love of his life, Nancy Jo Wright in 1959. He was an active member of the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church as well as the Cursillo movement, and a proud member of UAW Local 95. He retired after 34 years to pursue his hobbies of fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, watching the Packers, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling, a highlight of which was a trip to Italy in 1995.

Nick is survived by his wife, Nancy Furlano; 3 children: JoAnn Donny, Mark (Debbie Niles) Furlano and Peggy (Terry) Sheridan all of Janesville; 6 grandchildren: Amanda (Nick) Drout, Morgan (Aaron) McCarthy, Ashley and Avagail Furlano, Alec and Scott Sheridan; 3 great grandchildren: Cassius Donny, Colton and Hailey Drout; a brother, James (Annie) Furlano; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Nuncy, Paul and John Furlano; sister, Rose Groff; and 3 infant siblings.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the NATIVITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
