State wildlife officials have hired 18 new biologists.
Department of Natural Resources officials say the new hires are filling positions that have been vacant in some cases for as long as two years.
The biologists began work last month. Their duties include habitat management, wildlife monitoring, overseeing public recreation on state lands, construction of public facilities, responding to public inquiries and attending meetings with local governments and constituents.
The new hires are stationed around the state at locations including Wausaukee, Baldwin, Mishicot, Merrill, Eau Claire, Madison, Oshkosh, Green Bay and Black River Falls.
