Deputies, witnesses pull injured driver to safety

Good Samaritans and emergency crews used ropes to hoist an injured motorist out of a steep embankment in Grant County on Monday night, according to a release.
Grant County deputies received a report of a one-vehicle accident on Highway C about 1 mile from Highway 18 in the town of Wyalusing around 7:20 p.m., officials said.
Investigators said Robert Myers, 70, of Bagley, was westbound on Highway C in his 2004 Ford F150 truck when he lost control and went over a very steep embankment just above the Wisconsin River.
Myers was able to get out of the truck and was found by a passing motorist walking east on the ice, according to the release.
Deputies, emergency crews and several good Samaritans were able to use ropes to hoist Myers to the roadway, officials said. Myers was then transported to Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
