Denver man practicing parkour ends up in chimney

A Denver, Colorado, man was booked into jail after getting stuck in a chimney practicing parkour, KMGH-TV reports.

Dustin Hinkle, 26, was booked into the Denver jail on suspicion of trespassing after being rescued by the Denver Fire Department.

“I felt like I was going to die, honestly,” Hinkle told a KCNC-TV reporter.

Hinkle dropped 40 feet down a chimney while making a parkour video on the roof of the Denver City Lofts, KCNC reports.

The World Freerunning Parkour Federation defines parkour as the act of moving from point “a” to point “b” using the obstacles in your path to increase efficiency.

In a jailhouse interview with KMGH, Hinkle said it was an accident and that he was sorry.

“I’ll never get on top another building in downtown again,” Hinkle said. “My fiance is pregnant with my kid right now; I didn’t think I was ever going to see my child.”

According to KCNC, Hinkle was stuck inside the chimney for almost two hours. Firefighters entered a vacant apartment and tore through the bricks to get him out.

“I didn’t even believe in God before this,” Hinkle told KCNC. “That’s a real mind-opener right there. I fell 40 feet, and I’m alive.”

Jayce Anderson, 23, and Mary Jo McHugh, 20, were also charged with trespassing and interference of a police officer for allegedly running from police, KCNC reports.
