COLUMBUS – Dennis G. Lee, age 78, of Columbus, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, due to an accident on his farm. He was born July 18, 1944, to Glenn and Breta Lee. Dennis was a devoted son to his father and mother and considered his father as his best friend and continued to farm the Lee homestead. He was part of a very large family, consisting of 14 nieces and 14 nephews all very dear to him.

Dennis graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1962 and was voted MVP of the Sun Prairie Cardinals football team his senior year and was on the homecoming court. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.A. in Economics and a two-year degree in Accounting from Madison College. He had a long career at the State of Wisconsin Industry and Labor Commerce. Dennis was a Vietnam Veteran from 1969-1970 and served on the Mothership APL Mobil Riverine Division in the Mekong Delta.

Dennis and his father attended the Badger Midget Races and the Indy 500 for over 60 years. He was an expert in racing history and owned several historic Badger Midgets and racing memorabilia. Dennis was an avid owner of many Ford vehicles and loved to ride Harleys in his younger days.

Dennis is survived by the love of his life, Judy (Anderson) Kiesow; and siblings, Glenda Anderson, Lana (Bob) Nell, Betty (Vince) Maly, and Barbara Youngs. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Georgia: and siblings, Gloria Hauge, John Bell, and Sharon Lingard.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022. A burial with full military honors will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the start of the service on Wednesday.
