Denise Cooper

Denise (Anacker) Cooper age 53, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and close friends.

She was born on December 6, 1963 in Baraboo to Ronald and Shirley (Wittman) Anacker. Denise was a 1982 graduate of Portage High School. She continued her education by attending UW-Baraboo and UW-Stevens Point and graduating from UW-Madison School of Nursing in 1989.

Upon graduation she worked as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She moved to Madison, working at UW Children’s Hospital Cancer Center for the past 25 years.

Denise met Tom Cooper on a blind date set up by their co-workers at Tom’s property in Columbus where he took her up in his “zoom boom”. They married on October 1, 2005 and together made their home on the land where they first met. Denise was an ass-kicking cook! She loved to travel and the couple took many adventurous vacations with friends and family. She was an avid UW football and Packer fan.

Survivors include her husband Tom of Columbus; fur babies Cooper and Maddie; mother Shirley Beumer of Holland, IN; brother Bryant (Greta) Anacker Sr. of Sussex; step-sister Mary Beumer of Indianapolis, IN; nephew Bryant Anacker Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; mother-in-law Barb Cooper of Columbus; brother-in-law Scott (Kathy) Cooper of Oregon and their children Remi and Addie; sister-in-law Sharon (Steve) Pratt of Columbus and their children Jamie, Brianne and her son Devon, Erica and her daughter Olivia, John (Liza) and their children Derek, Isabelle and Jackson; sister-in-law Kris (Mike) Behrendt of Randolph and their children Mitchell Cooper and Ashley Cooper; nephew Cheyenne (Shelby) Larson and their daughter Amelia; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father Ronald Anacker, step-father Mike Beumer; father-in-law Herb Cooper; brothers-in-law Alan and Todd Cooper and sister-in-law Debra Larson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH in Columbus. Sandra Schieble will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Faith Lutheran Church and from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church.
