DeForest man died from ‘edged weapon injuries’

A DeForest man found dead at a rural Dane County home died from edged weapon injuries, according to the Dane County medical examiner.

The death of Vladimir Yrvech Shevchuk, 52, is being called a possible domestic homicide, officials said Sunday.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating a death at 5387 County Road DM in the town of Vienna. Deputies responded to a report of a dead person at the residence at 6:49 p.m Saturday.

Shortly after deputies arrived, a person of interest was located. That person is cooperating with investigators, according to a news release Sunday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office said the town of Madison Police Department conducted a K-9 search of the area to retrieve evidence.

Lt. Mark Twombly said Sunday that there was no danger to the public.

Sgt. Eric Stacey told the Wisconsin State Journal an acquaintance of the woman in custody had called 911. The caller said the woman told him that she had harmed someone with whom she had a relationship.
