Person dies after crashing during police chase in Maple Bluff; DCI investigating
MAPLE BLUFF, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating after a person died following a police chase in Maple Bluff.
Officers attempted to stop the person’s vehicle just after 9 a.m. on Sunday, but police said the person refused to stop. Police then pursued them, but the vehicle crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Woodland Circle. The driver allegedly tried to run from the scene but was quickly taken into custody. They were then taken to a local hospital where they later died.
Three other passengers were in the car at the time of the crash. They were all taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
DCI said no officers were injured during the incident, and an officer involved in the pursuit was placed on administrative leave.
