David Richard Larrison

DEFOREST – David Richard Larrison, age 81 of De Forest, passed away January 7, 2013 at University Hospitals following complications arising from a fall.
Dave, known as Dick by his Michigan Family, was born in Howard County Indiana on July 6, 1931. He was the son of Dr. J.W. and Wilma (Lantz) Larrison. The family moved to Oscoda County Michigan in 1939 where his father continued his veterinary practice while Dick and his brothers worked the family farm. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1949 and entered the US Air Force where he was trained as a dental technician. The majority of his military service was spent in France which allowed him to do extensive European exploration.
Following discharge from the Air Force he entered Michigan State University. In 1957 he married Evelyn Hubbard and they moved to Midland Michigan where he worked for Dow Chemical Company. He and Evelyn returned to East Lansing and Michigan State University where he received a BS in Animal Science in 1962 and a MBA in 1963. Following graduation from graduate school they moved to Madison Wisconsin where he began his 28 years of employment with Oscar Mayer and Company.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn and their son Erik (Kate) Larrison of Sun Prairie, his brother Joseph (Donna) Larrison and sister Jean (Bob) Shantz. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Emerson and sister-in-law Shirley.
Dave was an avid woodworker who loved to make clocks for family and friends and he also completed many stained glass projects. He loved a manicured lawn, his classic 1979 Ranchero, his wife, son and his daughter-in-law Kate, not necessarily in that order.
Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home, 6914 Lake Road, DeForest on Thursday January 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial and grave side services will be Saturday, January 12 in Mio, Michigan. Memorials may be made to DeForest Fire and EMS.
