David Orvey Johnson
Middleton- David O. Johnson, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
He was born on September 3, 1936 to Orvey and Elsie (Beil) Johnson in Madison, WI.
David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His great sense of humor and “DOisms” will live on.
He had fond memories of growing up in Madison. He said his best summer was playing for the Schoep’s Ice Cream Team when they won the 1949 Midget League Championship.
David was an avid fisherman, but he especially loved ice fishing. Many fish fries were enjoyed by family and friends. He proudly helped start the Madison Fishing Expo over 35 years ago.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra; five children, Brian, Daniel, Thomas, Jeanette Scherschel, Jacqueline (Ted) Maybach; six grandchildren, Alexis Johnson, Zach Scherschel (Sarah), Ben Scherschel, Spencer Johnson, Nathan Maybach, Molly Maybach; one greatgrandchild, Leo Scherschel; sister, Patricia Marfilius; brother, Robert Johnson and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and mother of his children, Frances Dalton.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.
