David Burns

David J. Burns, age 54, of Fitchburg/Belleville, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was born on August 15, 1963, the son of Peter and Jean (Mack) Burns. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1981. David was a CNA at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville for 15 years prior to going to Attic Angels in Madison. He had a great love and passion for his patients and their families. He was an avid sports fan but his true passion was for the Green Bay Packers.
David is survived by his daughter Haley, whom he loved dearly, as well as his parents, his brother Dan (Michele), sisters Deb (Mark) Miedaner, Anne (Tom) Haglund and Terri (Ed) Hagstrom. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Jason, Melissa, Kim, Luke, Kari, Leah, Sean, Michelle and Charity, great-nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and his friend Eric.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Art and Lila Mack, Peter and Regina Burns, nephew Stephen, his beloved dog Gizmo and his favorite aunt Donna Mae.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at St. Mary’s MICU and Fathers Ken, Gary, Tony and Pat. The family will deeply miss his compassion, his laugh, his love for others and his sense of humor. Remember to always tell the important ones in your life how important they are to you. A private family service will be held at a later date. David donated his corneas through the Lion’s Eye Bank to give the gift of sight to others.
