Darlene Elder Roen, 76, of Blue River, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born August 8, 1935 and grew up on her grandparent’s farm. Darlene went to grade school in Blue River and graduated from Richland Center High School. She married James Christian and the couple had five children. After being single for many years she met the boy who in school put her pigtails in the ink, Mel Roen. The union brought six more children to her family. Darlene ran Darlene’s Antiques in Blue River until her retirement.

Darlene is survived by five children, Shawny (Donald) Kolman, Darla (Randall) Eberle, Mick Christian Jr., Mike Christian, Sue Thompson (Jeff Martin), six step children, Melvin (Marie) Roen, Matthew (Debra) Roen, Terri Roen, Mark (Jennifer) Roen, Michael (Susan) Roen, Marvel ‘Dewey’ Roen, sister, Geri Kraemer, grandchildren, Angela (Dan) Privett, Jackie Bellis, Phillip Sands, Dustin Christian, Richard Cooper, Danielle Cooper, Amanda (Curt) Utter, Michael Eberle, many great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and brother Butch.

Friends may call at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be held in the Blue River Cemetery at a later date.
