Daniel Sommers

Daniel “Dan” Sommers, age 78, of Middleton/Cross Plains, passed away Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1934 in Mt. Horeb, WI the son of Harry L. and Loretta (Haag) Sommers. He married Pat Yahnke, the girl next door, on April 16, 1955 in Freeport, IL.

Dan graduated from the UW-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He worked for many years in the Association Management field. Dan loved sports especially watching the Bears, Cubs and Badgers and enjoyed playing volleyball right up until the time of his cancer diagnosis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Sommers; daughter, Dana (Don) Ibold of Winter Springs, FL; daughter, Darcy (Bill) Deno, grandchildren, Karly and Drake of Middleton, WI; son, Doak (Jill) Sommers, grandchildren, Jordan and Claire of Verona, WI; and Dawn (Dave) Cohen, grandchildren, Denton and Madison of Green, OH.; brother Jim (Barbara) Sommers of Eugene OR, many nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law Dorothy Cooper and family.

Dan “Pa” was completely devoted to his family, always putting their needs first. We will all miss his fun-loving personality and clever sense of humor.

At Dan’s request, private services will be held at a later date.
