Dane County to expand wildlife area

MADISON, Wis. — Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced that about $700,000 of county funds will go to the National Heritage Land Trust to buy 25 acres of property for the Patrick Marsh Wildlife Area.
The purchase in the town of Bristol will enhance the upland bird nesting habitat, open up opportunities for education curriculum and improve access to the marsh, according to the announcement.
The area will be open to the public for hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, bird watching and nature viewing.
Patrick Marsh, located in the city of Sun Prairie and the town of Bristol, is a hub for natural resource education, wildlife habitat protection and habitat management.
