Dane County DA Ismael Ozanne said a decision will be made Tuesday morning about the location for a possible bond hearing for former Dane County Deputy Andy Steele, now accused in a double homicide.

Ozanne said Steele, 39, had been located at a Milwaukee-area medical facility, but Ozanne was unsure of Steele’s condition and whether his release to jail was imminent. The DA said discussions will take place Tuesday morning as to a location for a hearing, including the possibility of whether it would take place in the hospital where Steele has been treated.

Ozanne also reiterated he will not make a decision on whether his office will take the case until a referral is made by the Fitchburg Police Department, but he told News 3 that at this point, he is not seeing a conflict.

Steele is a suspect in the double homicide at his home, on Yarmouth Greenway Drive.

Officers found his wife, 39-year-old Ashlee Steele, dead inside their home Friday. Ashlee’s sister, 38-year-old Kacee Tollefsbol, was taken to a hospital and later died from her injuries.

Steele is a former deputy for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and recently retired after being diagnosed with ALS. He has been seen on TV taking part in the ice bucket challenge to raise money for the cause.
