Dane Co. Sheriff to provide update on Halderson investigation
MADISON, Wis. — Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett will provide an update on the Halderson homicide and missing person investigation Friday morning, the department says.
The press conference will be held at 11:30 a.m. and will be streamed on Channel3000.com, Channel3000+ streaming apps and on the News 3 Now/Channel3000 Facebook page.
Officials told News 3 Now earlier this week they would have an update on the investigation before the end of the week.
Bart and Krista Halderson were first reported missing nearly a month ago, when their son Chandler said he hadn’t heard from them for several days after arriving at their cabin in northern Wisconsin during the 4th of July weekend. But authorities quickly determined the Haldersons never arrived at the cabin and that Chandler was lying about their whereabouts.
He was arrested for lying to investigators but was later charged with first-degree intentional homicide and mutilating a corpse after parts of Bart Halderson’s body were found in an area where Chandler Halderson was seen. Krista Halderson still has not been found.
Chandler Halderson appeared in court earlier this week, where a judge found there was enough evidence to move forward with the criminal case.
