Dakota Black found guilty of beating 5-year-old to death

A jury has found 25-year-old Dakota Black guilty of beating his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son to death.

Closing statements were presented Thursday and the case went to the jury Thursday afternoon.

Brayden Turnbill, 5, was found barely breathing by his mother, Shannon Turnbill, at her Sun Prairie home in October 2013. Investigators said he suffered serious head injuries. He died at UW Hospital a few days later.

A criminal complaint stated that Brayden died from blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators said Black was the only adult home with Brayden before he was found injured.
