County, providers partner to help police with mental health emergencies

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced the creation of a new community crisis team in partnership with local law enforcement agencies.
“There is so much to do. It’s so much more than any one entity can do on our own, but when we partner, bring in expertise and resources we can do a lot to address the challenges we face,” Parisi said.
He said the new teams will work with law enforcement and health care providers around the clock. They will respond to calls involving patients with mental health issues.
The teams will cost around $80,000 to fund, which will be included in the 2016 budget. He will be announcing the official 2016 budget Thursday.
