Counselors available at WSU to mourn loss of student

Ellen Marie ‘Ellie' Ahmann died after her car fell through the ice

Winona State University (WSU) is offering counseling and support services to help the university community mourn the loss of student Ellen Marie “Ellie” Ahmann.

Ahmann, 21, died after her car fell through the ice and went into the Mississippi River on Wednesday.

She enrolled at WSU in fall 2010 and was a finance major.

“As we mourn the loss of this young woman, I encourage you to reach out to those who may be suffering and come together to remember her life,” Patricia Rogers, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs said in a statement.  “The companionship and support we offer each other may help us make peace with this tremendous loss. Please keep Ellie’s family and friends in your thoughts and hearts.”
