The deadline is drawing near and many schools start in two weeks, including the Verona School District that was hit by a tornado over the summer.

Crews are putting the finishing touches on the repair work at Country View Elementary School, which was heavily damaged in mid-June.

Construction crews are pretty much done with their part, and soon they will be handing over the rebuilt classrooms to teachers to get ready for students.

“Much of what you see here is scheduled to be completed yet this week, so we’re really looking to punch out by Friday of this week,” Verona School District Superintendent Dean Gorrell said. “We’ll have some other things to tidy up, but we’ll be definitely on track for school to open, actually for staff to come in a week from today.”

The EF3 tornado ripped up about 17,000 square feet of the building, causing an estimated $3-$4 million in damage.
