DEFOREST–Constance (Connie) Weber Gross, 84, of DeForest died Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison after a brief illness. She was born February 8, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Martin and Constance Weber.

After graduating from Mundelein College in Chicago, Connie worked for many years as a chemist, first at Pratt Flour Mill in Chicago and most recently at Rayovac in Madison. She was united in marriage to Robert Gross in Park Ridge, Ill. in October 1950. They were long-time residents of Waunakee, where Connie raised their family after Bob’s death in 1977. She was especially proud that all seven of her children graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After they were grown, she enjoyed spending time growing orchids, breeding finches and playing bridge. She was blessed to join her sisters, children, nieces and nephews at a joyful family gathering in suburban Chicago the weekend before her death.

Connie is survived by her children, Joanne (Bob) Kirkpatrick, Ardsley, N.Y., Robert Gross, Syracuse, N.Y., Martin (Linda) Gross, Newburg, Connie (Jeff) Jordan, Hartland, Peggy Gross, Middleton, Mary Ellen (Bill) Graf, Monona, and Alice (Chris) Stevens, Palatine, Ill., eleven grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara Roch, and Gerry Zitz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her sister, Rosemary Twitchell.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH,623 Jefferson Street, DeForest with Father Robert Butz presiding.

Her final resting place will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Waunakee. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
