Community leaders call for a recall on mayor after he proposed eliminating funding for non-profits
FITCHBURG,Wis. — Mayor Jason Gonzalez proposed eliminating funding for non-profits in next year’s budget. This led to an announcement by community leaders seeking a recall election.
Today, the CEO of the Dane County Boys and Girls Club said the two parties have reached an agreement.
“There is a path forward,” said Michael Johnson, Dane County Boys and Girls Club CEO. “The mayor has now gone on the record in front of 10 community leaders and said ‘I support this path going forward.”
Johnson did not disclose details of the agreement. The Fitchburg Common Council will hold a public hearing about the budget at city hall at 7:30 next Tuesday.
