Clinic continues healthy initiative with east side school

An east side health clinic continued its partnership with a special group of neighbors Monday.

Doctors and staff from UW Health Northeast took time to educate students at Lake View Elementary School about healthy eating and exercise.

Students walked with pedometers, got lessons on proper hand washing, did yoga, and ran through an exercise obstacle course.

“We hope that by starting talking about healthy habits and teaching kids about how to stay healthy this will benefit them in the future,” said Sarina Schrager, UW Health director.

Workers at the medical center adopted Lake View Elementary earlier this year through the Foundation for Madison Public Schools.

They’ve conducted various collection drives for students, and plan to hold another health and wellness event next year.
