Cheneys to host fundraiser for Trump, RNC

Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, will co-host a fundraiser Monday for the RNC and the 2020 Trump reelection campaign, a source with knowledge of the fundraiser confirms to CNN.

White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney are all expected to attend the event as “special guests,” according to the source. The invitation does not list their official titles and it says “their participation in the event is not a solicitation of funds.”

Administration officials are prohibited from campaigning in their official capacities, which would be a violation of the Hatch Act.

The fundraiser will take place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and is part of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s big donor fundraising weekend.

“Rep. Cheney is honored to be co-hosting this event and working hard to support President Trump’s re-election,” a spokeswoman for the congresswoman told CNN. “The President’s policies are benefiting Wyoming and the nation.”

The Washington Post first reported the Cheneys would appear at the fundraiser.

At a private event earlier this year, an exchange between the former vice president and current Vice President Mike Pence became tense when Cheney criticized Trump’s foreign policy.
