Charles Martin Hubbard

Charles Martin Hubbard has passed away at home on Sat. April 28, 2012, at the age of 70 from a long battle with complications of Parkinson’s Disease under the care of his loving family, caregivers and Agrace Hospice Care.
Charles was born March 5, 1942 to Charles Minard and Alice Caroline (Strandberg) Hubbard in Milwaukee, WI. He Graduated from Wauwatosa High School 1960, and he attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.
In June 1963 Charles married Patricia Ann Lee in Milwaukee, WI. Charles worked for the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation from Jan. 1966- Apr. 1977, a Hwy. Engineer for Adams County from Apr. 1977- Nov. 1981, Assistant Hwy. Commissioner/Hwy Commissioner/ Public Works Director from Dec.1981-June 1987 for Rock County. Charles served many years on the Volunteer Fire Department for Adams Fire Dept and Plover Fire Dept. Charles was a loving father to Kimberly Kaye (Vicente’ Hernandez) and Robert Charles (Jolyn Lemke). After moving to Janesville, WI, Charles and Patricia owned and operated Cartographics where Charles was involved with mapping, blueprinting, centerlining highways and consulting.
After retiring Charles known as “Grandpa Chuck” spent a lot of time spoiling his two Grand Children, Travis R. Hubbard and Britani Jo Hubbard who live in Deerbrook, WI. They were the apple of his eye. Charles loved many things most of all spending time with his family, he was an avid fan of Wisconsins teams he loved the Brewers, Packers, Bucks and Badgers. Every July you could find him at Hodag Country Festival, Up North at “the Farm” he loved to sit back and “watch the world go by”. Charles and Patricia and their family spent many family vacations together and enjoyed the family holidays, Christmas being his favorite.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert D. Hubbard, in-laws, Herbert and Dorothy Lee, and one brother in law, Louis Sosnovske.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; Children, Kim (Vicente) Hernandez of Janesville, and Rob (Jolyn) Hubbard of Deerbrook, WI; and grandchildren, Travis and Britani. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Lorena Sosnovske of Gleason, Janet (Lee) and Dave Way of Stevens Point, Jane (Lee) and Greg Brown of Green Bay; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and his loving four legged companion, Lucy.
Visitation for Chuck will take place on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 1800 E. Racine St., Janesville, where a prayer service by Pastor Matt Powell will conclude the visitation.
Private burial will take place in the Town of Summit Cemetery, Langlade County. A public memorial/ open house will also be held at “the Farm” W13744 Rocky Glen Rd, Gleason on Saturday, June 16 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
