Chad Michael Helland

MOUNT HOREB – Chad Michael Helland, age 40, of Mount Horeb, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 7, 2021.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1980, in Madison, Wis., the son of Philip and Patricia “Trish” (Kahl) Helland.
Chad graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1999. He had a passion for landscaping and was a badass in a Bobcat. He worked with Zingg Landscaping, Kittleson Landscape, and Schulenberg Land Care before starting his own business, Helland Earth.
Chad enjoyed shocking people with his brash form of comedy and wit. His double-punch laugh that usually followed was infectious. He was everybody’s friend, generous, and compassionate to no end. It was awe inspiring to watch him meet new people and have them instantly desire more (or sometimes much less) of him. He enjoyed parking his cherished blue Jeep in ridiculous and unwelcomed places. He loved girly drinks, dirt bikes, Xbox with friends and family, colorful language, and good times. Above all else, he loved spending time with his children who were the center of his world. He loved them to the moon and back.
If you knew Chad, please let his early and unexpected passing remind you that your time to make an impact on those around you is limited. Have the grace to do so in your own unique way unbound by the expectations of others. No excuses: Chad has shown us many examples of how this is done.
Chad is survived by his parents; brother; Shane (Nicole) Helland; sister, Paula (Dan) Barkow; twin children, Paytyn Helland and Memphis Helland; step daughter, Lyndsey Scoville; his first love and mother of their beautiful children, Ruthie Scoville; nephew, Blake Barkow; three nieces, Laurel Helland, Sofia Helland and Aubrie Barkow; three “brothers,” Trevor Wiggins, Mickey Lipska and Justin Hartman; “sisters,” Leah Lipska and Whitney Rhyman; three “nephews,” Phoenix Lipska, Orion Lipska and Maximus Lipska; “niece,” Cleopatra Lipska; former long time love, Elizabeth Lorenz and her children, Caleb and Jett McNamer; beloved brute of a dog, Diesel; Frank the Cat; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Adam Helland; maternal grandparents, Mary and Lyle Kahl; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Joyce Helland; and his beloved family dog, Jasper.
A public Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO MOUNT HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, with a visitation to follow until 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Chad to support his children’s education in the future.
