Kansas tops North Carolina 72-69 to win national title

Kansas finished off the biggest comeback in national championship history Saturday night, getting a big game from David McCormack, crucial shots from Remy Martin and surviving a tying 3-pointer by Caleb Love that missed everything at the buzzer for a 72-69 victory in the Superdome. The senior-laden Jayhawks trailed 40-25 at halftime before rallying to win their fourth national championship, and the second for coach Bill Self, on the same floor where they lost to Kentucky in the national title game a decade ago.

Duke had, finally, lived up to the expectations placed upon it by these circumstances. ...

Mike Sielski: Villanova, still the toughest team in the country, is headed to the Final Four

SAN ANTONIO — It’s the rare NCAA Tournament regional final that sounds, feels, and has the sense of a home game for one of the two teams. These elimination games are contested at neutral sites, or are supposed to be. Saturday night at AT&T Center did not sound that way, feel that way, have that sense. The University of Houston is just 200 miles east of here, and its basketball fans flooded ...

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — After what seemed like it could be a dream season for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, their ride came to an end Thursday night in the Sweet 16.  They could not overcome the Arkansas Razorbacks and fell 74-68, but our Alex Crescenti and Keith Osso were there every step of the way and have one last report from…
