Carolyn D. Squire
MADISON-Carolyn Squire was born in Rhinelander, on Nov. 24, 1926, to Roland and Ruth Young. She spent her childhood in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in June of 1944. Carolyn attended Andrews University, Michigan, obtaining her teaching certificate. She taught school for a time in Poysippi, Wisc. On June 22, 1947, Carolyn married Leonard G. Squire. Len and Carolyn moved to Madison where they raised five sons, played important roles in the raising of seven grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with great-grandchildren. Carolyn was employed with the Wisconsin Taxation Department, University Hospital Medical Records and the University Housing Payroll Department for a total of 22 years, retiring in 1989. Carolyn was an active member of the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served the Lord and the church in many capacities, including Deaconess, teaching, and volunteering in the church’s donation center. Her generous heart, strong faith and prayerful service are a strong testimony to her commitment to the Lord and her trust in His plan for her life. Carolyn loved all travel, from family camping trips to day trips to an awesome trip to Alaska. For a time, Carolyn and Len spent winters in Florida, enjoying new friends and beautiful weather. Carolyn loved to knit, crochet and read. Most of all, Carolyn loved spending time with family.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Ruth Young; her husband, Leonard Squire; and her son, Clyde Squire. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Stanley Squire, Rodney Squire, Timothy(Nancy) Squire, and Roy(Tina) Squire; daughter-in-law, Julie Squire; her grandchildren, Amy Edwards, Tammy Squire, Melissa(Clint) Smith, Michele(Dave) Squire, Alex Squire, Andria(Dave) LaCount, Stacie Squire, and Daniel(Brandi) Flynn; her great-grandchildren, Shelby, Hunter, Morgan, Jordan, Christian, Damien, Ryan, Rayna, Jayd, Brianna, Elijah, and Desmond; her brothers and sisters, Vivian(Gerry) Colvin, Allan(Carolyn) Young, Cleo(Don) Short, Clayton(Judy) Young; and much-loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, with the Rev. Titus Naftanaila presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
