Caroline Elizabeth Burnham

Caroline Elizabeth Burnham, 94, formerly of Lone Rock went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Richland Hospital. She was born September 5, 1917 in Orion Township the daughter of William and Matilda (Anding) Kapelka. On October 25, 1935 Carol married John Dayton Burnham in Sextonville. They were married for 66 years and the couple farmed the Burnham Century Farm. Carol loved to cook and bake. She worked for Food Services at Schmitt Home, at Lens Bakery, and O’Brien Brothers. Carol was always entertaining friends. She was a lifelong member of UM Women and the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Carol moved to Schmitt Home in June of 2007. She will be missed by many family and friends.

Carol is survived by her children, George (Laurie) Burnham of Lone Rock, Beverly (Alfred) Harper of Lone Rock, Joan Burnham of Madison, Julie Wombacher of Madison, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, many other relatives, and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband John D. Burnham in 2001, brother Kenneth, sister Faye McCarthy, and daughter-in-law Betty Burnham.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10:30 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Sextonville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 9:30 until the time of the service at 10:30 AM.
