Carol Whitethunder

Carol Whitethunder, Wiragu~sgewi, meaning Star, age 73 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin walked on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at University Hospital of Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Native American Church between Wisconsin Dells and Lyndon Station with Kelly LaMere officiating. Burial will be at Trempealeau Public Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Native American Church on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m.

Carol was born February 3, 1944 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin the daughter of Andrew and Lucy (Littlebear) Funmaker. In May of 2008 she married Howard Whitethunder. For many years she has worked as a HoChunk language teacher. She enjoyed playing slot machines at the casino, deer hunting and basket making. She was a loyal Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and devoted Christian. Carol was also a loving mother to Charlie Whitethunder.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Tina; brothers, Carlos, Lorenzo and Maynard Funmaker; a sister, Betty LaMere; grandchildren, Cody Boisen, Jesse Boisen, Jordan Merfeld, Alanah Reinhart and Stormie Brown; and great grandchildren, Trenton, Jordynn, Violet and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; a son, Leslie; brothers, Wayne, Roger, Wilfred, Daryl, Conrad and Thurman; and sisters, Anita Staples and Darlene Funmaker.
