Carol Elizabeth Johnson

MADISON-Carol Elizabeth Johnson, age 85, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center after a short illness.
Carol was born on Feb. 2, 1927, in Marinette, the youngest child of the late Christ and Ida (Goodwin) Teige. She married Ray Johnson ,formerly of Menominee, Mich., on July 26, 1952. Ray preceded Carol in death on Sept. 14, 2005. Carol was a graduate of Marinette High School and Madison Business College. She worked for the State of Wisconsin, Arthur Anderson, and more recently for Ernst and Young. Carol was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Her leisure time was spent in the outdoors, and she was an avid bowler, bowling at Dream Lanes in Madison for more than 30 years. She also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. Some of Carol’s favorite times were spent with daughter, Cindy and her dog, Jazzy.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Nicole Heide) of Madison; son, Mark (Shari) of Two Rivers; three grandchildren, Marissa, Cory, and Alex; a great-grandchild, Brayden; special friend, Sande Janagold; and special pets, Jazzy, Mason, Barney, and Lou. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Owen and Quentin; and a sister, Lois.
Funeral services will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012, and also at the church from noon until the time of service on Friday.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Dane County Humane Society.
