Carlyle Robert Volden

TAMPA, FL/ORFORDVILLE-Carlyle Robert Volden, age 81, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 19, 1936, in Sterling, the son of Jerry and Eleanor (Stephens) Volden. Following high school, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was given the opportunity to continue with the Navy until his retirement in 1973.

Following retirement, Carl moved to Florida, where he used the skills he learned in the Navy to restore residential homes. He was a Quarter Master at the VWF Post No. 10140 in Tampa, Fla. A musician at heart, Carl was self-taught and could play any instrument. Many enjoyed his bands’ music. He enjoyed spending time in and tending to his garden and always looked forward to family events. Carl’s family was his greatest joy in life.

Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy Volden; three sons, Carl (Stac’ey) Volden, Lyle (Chris Engebretsen) Volden, and Danny (Kathy) Zweifel; grandchildren, Lucas Volden, Erin Volden, Keilani Volden, David (Aimee) Budres, Mathew (Amanda) Volden, Benjamin Volden, Raymond Volden, Adam Volden, Abb’ey-lee Volden and Haley Zweifel; great-granddaughter, Blayklee Budres; sister, Carol (LaVern) Sinjen; and two brothers, Phillip (Jan) Volden and Harvey (Diana) Volden. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Volden; daughter, Sheila Zweifel; and great-grandchild, Mathew-Ray Volden.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
