Carl Schroeder

Carl E. Schroeder, age 84 of Blue River, passed away January 2, 2013 at Golden Living Center Riverdale in Muscoda. Carl was born March 17, 1928 on the family farm in Richwood Township, Richland County to Ernest and Clara (Georgeson) Schroeder. He farmed all his life on the family farm in Byrds Creek Valley. Carl loved farming, being in the fields and milking cows. He graduated from Blue River High School in 1947. Carl married Hazel VanNatta June 3, 1958 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. Carl truly enjoyed painting many beautiful landscapes. He also enjoyed golfing with his grandchildren. He built a ski tow on the farm so he and his grandchildren could ski and sled. He always believed his life-long mission was to take care of family and always do the right thing. Carl served on the Blue River school board and the Riverdale school board for a number of years.

Carl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel Schroeder of Blue River; daughter Kay (Schroeder) Hanson, of Blue River; stepchildren Nancy (Zimpel) Williams of Lady Lake, FL; Vicki Zimpel of McFarland; Fred “Fritz” (MaryJo) Zimpel of Lady Lake, FL; five grandchildren: Coran L. (MaryNell) Williams III of Callahan, FL; LT COL Kirk (Stacy) Zimpel of Land O’ Lakes, FL; Garett (Joelle) Zimpel of Brillion; Alan and Sandra Hanson of Blue River; six great grandchildren: Caitlyn and Caila Williams, Connor and Carson Zimpel, Amelia and Rachel Zimpel; one great great grandson, Reid Williams; nieces and nephews: Jack (Charlene) Schroeder of LaCrosse; John (Debbie) Schroeder of Gratiot; Gary (Sandy) Schroeder of Rockford, IL; Imelda (John) Reese Jr. of Rockford, IL; and Cindy (Mike) Dobson of Boscobel, and their respective families; sister-in-law Evelyn Mindham of Boscobel; his brother’s long time companion Mary Wilson of Rockford IL; along with other relatives and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, and nephew, Larry Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Five Points Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Engel to officiate with burial to follow in the Five Points Cemetery. Friends may call at the Five Points Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at noon. The Godager Pratt Funeral Home of Muscoda is assisting the family with their arrangements.
