Carl H. Steva

STOUGHTON-Carl H. Steva, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 88.
Born to Carl and Naomi Steva on Oct. 13, 1928, in Ohio, he came to Wisconsin to pursue his college degree. In school he met Caroline Grether, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1953 in Madison. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science education from the U.W., which he used to teach at Verona HS, Monticello HS, and later MATC (Madison College).
Carl raised three boys, Matthew, David, and Jonathan with his wife Caroline. After retirement he and Caroline enjoyed lots of traveling, or “gallivanting,” including spending their winters in Ajo, Ariz.
Carl thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. Carl’s family remembers him as a kind-hearted, loving man who was devoted to his family.
He is survived by wife, Caroline; two sons, Matthew (Lisa) Steva and Jonathan (Kevin) Steva; sister, Lois (Clarence) Christian; brother, Pete (Jean) Steva; six grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Caitlin, Naomi, Onnolee, and Gracie; and five great-grandchildren, Mikeal, Leah, Caroline, Evelyn, and Alice. He was preceded in death by son, David Steva; both parents; and two siblings.
The Celebration of Carl’s life will be held at VENNEVOLL CLUB HOUSE, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, Wi.,(near Skaalen Nursing Home off Ridge St.) at 1 p.m. on Sunday June 11, 2017.
Memorials may be gifted in Carl’s name to Agrace HospiceCare.
