Car fire in hospital parking ramp causes $7K in damage, officials say

MADISON, Wis. — A vehicle fire in a hospital parking ramp Tuesday caused $7,000 in damage, officials said.
Firefighters were sent just after 2 p.m. to the Meriter Hospital parking ramp in the 200 block of South Park Street for reports of a vehicle fire, according to a release.
Two people were inside their vehicle, which was parked in the ramp, when they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle, officials said.
Crews said there was a smoky haze coming from the parking structure when they arrived.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when crews got to the third floor of the ramp, according to the release.
Officials said the car is a total loss and two other vehicles were damaged in the fire.
No one was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
