Capitols name Ward head coach

Garrett Suter named Capitols’ head coach, GM

The Madison Capitols named Troy Ward as their new head coach Wednesday.

Ward was an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2002-2005 and played hockey at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1987-1990.

Ward replaces Luke Strand who became Mike Eaves’ assistant coach with the Badgers.

The Capitols will hold their annual tryout camp from June 14-17 at Capitol Ice Arena.

Ward takes over a team that features more than a dozen players eligible to play in the USHL next season.
