Calvin “Cal” Fox Suthers

Calvin “Cal” Fox Suthers, 63, of Platteville died on Monday, January 14, 2013 at University Hospital, Madison.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Father Monte Robinson will officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cal Suthers Memorial Fund. Cal was born on May 22, 1949 at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Gordon and Alice (Fox) Suthers. He was united in marriage to Rita Coulthard on August 11, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. Cal farmed and raised beef cattle. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and especially riding horse, where he enjoyed roping and going on cattle drives. Cal especially loved being around family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; mother, Alice Suthers; brothers, G. Gregory Suthers, Mark Suthers, and Rolf (Jennifer) Suthers; sister, Simone (Greg) Mausser; Rita’s family of four brothers and seven sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon on September 8, 2009 and a nephew, Travis Suthers.
